Who Gets Free Entry to Versailles?
The Palace of Versailles offers free admission to several categories of visitors. You must present valid proof at the entrance:
- Under 18 — Free for all nationalities (ID or passport required)
- 18-25 EU/EEA residents — Free for residents of European Union or European Economic Area countries (valid ID required)
- Disabled visitors + 1 companion — Free with valid disability card (includes Palace, Trianon Estate, and Gardens on Musical Fountains days)
- Unemployed French residents — Free with proof from France Travail (formerly Pôle Emploi) dated within the last 6 months
- Art and history teachers — Free with valid professional card
- Journalists — Free with valid press card
- ICOM / ICOMOS members — Free with valid International Council of Museums or Monuments card
Free entry events:
- First Sunday of each month (November to March) — Free Palace entry for all visitors
Gardens: The gardens have free access on most days. A ticket (€10-12) is required only on Musical Fountains and Musical Gardens days (Tuesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from April to October).
